Miley Cyrus embarrassed by photos

Wait, do you think Montana or Cyrus as a last name makes here famous as she goes by both.

She had to try out like anyone else to get the job, so clearly they thought there was something there. Her father being who he his hardly mattered as he is more of a joke than anything else. 1 hit song, a lame one at that 15 years ago, and then goes of into obscurity as an actor from time to time. Not like a lot of draw from that.

Montana does not matter, just a stage name with Cyrus behind it all the time.

You're right, same magic applies as it did to her Father, Billy Ray, a lousy actor, not much better but likeable singer, popular for no good reason.

It is not true that he disappeared , through some persistence he has been around somewhere all the time.

This is another case in point that just about anybody can be promoted and made popular. It began many years ago with the The Monkees, likeable but talentless bunch of guys, and continued through Milli Vanilli, recently Hillary Duff and Montana, with few more in-between.

Now she regrets her pictures having been taken? Yeah, right, plastered all over tabloids and even respectable news media, totally free publicity, what do you think it does to concert sales?

not exactly sure but i think she is hanna montanna from a disney show and does signing as well

Selling 9 million copies of your first album is something people remember.

Beyond that, in the 2000s he had the title role in an 88-episode TV series. You might want to check IMDB before you claim he was a one-hit wonder that no one knew when his daughter "earned" the Hannah Montana part in some sort of hard scrabble manner.

She's not worth $1 billion.

That's the gross income of her franchise, not her net worth.

Granted, she is not thought to be worth $1 billion yet, but estimated to reach that point by the end of the year.

The above link is not the only source that is claiming that her franchise will be worth $1 billion, not her franchise's revenue. Meaning that if she were to sell her franchise at that point, it would be worth $1 billion.

Of course there is no real way of telling how much she is worth because I doubt she is going to open her books to the public and there is no way to tell how well the money is invested and that does not include what she will inherit from her father and mother. But seriously, once you are worth more than $100 million, your life is usually a scripted deal.

when you make $1million a week - things like this are done on purpose - including the supposed turmoil she pretends to be in.

Don't be a sucker and fall for it.

Ummm....I don't think that photo happend by accident...she's looking right at the camera, and just happened to be sitting on the set wrapped in a bed sheet?????

I smell publicity stunt all over this one...

Jim Dean
they caught her unknowingly while she wasnt all the way dressed and
had a sheet wrapped around her at what 15 years old ...

She is probably just as embarrassed as Britney Spears ...

She is one of the disney pop stars. TV Show, singer, entertainer, ...
Of course a note in the original post explaining who she is and not assuming that everybody on a forum accessed by people across the globe knows about her; but that would have meant realising that the rest of the world probably doesn't care enough to waste their time doing Google searches on something that is relevant to just a small part of the world.

They why spend the time reading and responding to a post about the subject if you don't care about it?

My lighthearted sarcasm and sense of perspective seems to have been misplaced or misunderstood.

I shall have to go back to my miserable existence, bowing, scraping and praying to the altar of celebrity and the gods of triviality ....

Did I say that I didn't care?

However, your point is totally irrelevant. The thread may have been of zero interest to me but the thread title gave no clue. Try to understand, it may of been of interest. That's not a difficult concept to grasp.

Actually, what I really hope is that you can go to Digital Photography forums and repeatedly ask about the identity of any pop-culture figure who comes up, especially when it's obvious that you could care less. It is a much more sensible course of action than spending two seconds to enter her name into Google or Wikipedia.

Furthermore, not knowing pop culture figures establishes you as some kind of cultural elite.

...that I couldn't care less, rather than could.
Unfortunately, it appears my levity is somewhat lost on certain contributors.

Perhaps that explains more as to the notion of celebrity than anything I could ever write. Ah, well...

I think the real question here is whether Leibovitz should have exercised better judgment. At what point should a photographer decide perhaps a racy subject may not be the best idea? Could she not come up with a better way to portray a youth for the rising star she is? At what point do you draw the line between "what sells" and what is "right"?

The lesson of Ms. Cyrus will likely fold into the upcoming generation of kids: don't trust photographers, they just want photos of you looking as naked as possible. Perhaps this is a good thing if kids are weary to pose for photographs, but hopefully this doesn't put a bad taste in their mouth every time they hear "photographer." There are still plenty of tasteful photographers out there.

She is known “downunder” but why by me, at 58 a bit of a worry!

Well I guess Photos are photos and publicity is publicity, not the first starlet (used unadvisedly) to start her next step in her chosen carrier with a few supposedly “questionable” pictures

Even you used words "probably inappropriate" but for media it is OK.
Just spend 5- 10 min near a high school when 15 or so year old
leaving the school after classes. During my daily bicycle ride I was
passing a local high school. Miley looks very decent in comparison.
Now I am riding around the block. Miley looks and pose very decently
in comparison.
The amount of skin exposed is not the problem, it's the story that the picture tells that sets off alarm bells. It's a picture of a 15 year old girl that is apparently nude with her hair tousled, and wrapped in bedsheets. Do 15 year old girls sleep in the nude? Rarely. But 15 year olds do have sex in the nude. That is the problem.

Don't be fooled, there is NOTHING in this girl's life that has not
been worked over by image advisers, publicists, and a whole army of
people cashing in on her. It's said she's worth $1,000,000,000.00 ...
that's billion (milliards for those on the island)
Well, she isn't worth a red cent to me.. until this minute I'd never heard of her, and I still don't know what the pictures are supposed to be about!
