I am interested in the Casio EX-F1, but heard that it can't zoom, change exposure, auto focus after you press the REC button. That means you have to do everything before you press REC.

I am skeptical about this saying. So could you please clarify this ?

Thanks in advance.

I just purchased one today and from my limited time with it I know you can zoom during the HD/SD movie recording but not the high speed. You can also adjust the focus while filming in the HD/SD but im not sure on the high speed but I do know it has the option to continuously autofocus so Ill check more into it once my batterys charged and let you know.

Hi, joshvh, thank you very much.

Please also check whether the exposure is locked during movie recording.

Looking forward to your testing.

Regards

Yes, Ive tried everything but from what I can tell the exposure is locked. In HD/SD the focus and zoom can both be changed and in high speed everything is locked.

Thank you joshvh.

If zoom and auto focus are locked only in hi-speed mode, that would be acceptable. But I still consider the exposure locked during normal recording unacceptable. You know even the cheapest camcorder can perform auto or manual exposure during movie recording.

Best Regards

The manual states that the exposure and focus can be locked or continuous, there is a button on the side to provide this functionality. Once you zoom again the focus and exposure are unlocked and then you can hit the button to unlock it again, perfect.

The exposure lock during video is the one feature I crave for actually and is not available without using full manual settings in the Sanyo cams.

what about recording in Full HD? it's also locked as the high speed setting? or can you change the zoom and the focus has usuall?
