Hi Guys!

I would like to inquire which is better? A700 or A350? What are the strong and weakpoints of each SLR?

Thank You!

Wow, I guess Sony was right about the higher megapixels for marketing concept.
We're seeing a lot of these posts.

Ultimately, the A350 has two more megapixels (for better or worse) and live view, but everything else is better about the A700.

Hi,

it depends on what is better for you.

More features, (supposed) more solid construction, pentaprism viewfinder = A700 - but higher price tag

more MP, more acessible price tag = A350

Your choice.

Do not forget tilting LCD in A350 which allows waist level photography. For me this is crucial, but of course depending on your habit it may or may not be important factor.

Hi Pet,

Two different class of camerra, the A350 is considered ENTRY level albeit with some advanced features, Live View and 14mp. The A700 is classified as an ADVANCED amatuer camera, a step up in BODY, fit and finish. (solid magnesium alloy shell and metal/plastic body, 5 FPS, advanced DRO w LVL 1~5, 3" LCD display.

Unfortunately only YOU can determine which is the better camera for your needs. Suggestion: Try them BOTH side by side at a nearby SONY STYLE store and see which one appeals to you more.

Good Luck!

From the minds of Minolta to the imagination of Sony, Alpha, like no other.

If you added the tilting live view to the A700 it would be perfect. Noise is way lower and worth having two fewer megapixels.

Live view and more megapixels vs better quality and higher price.

I would choose the 700 every time, but hope the live view is on the next variant of it because it is tantalizing, but unnnecessary.

Just my educated guess, but the 14mp CCD is likely to suffer from a bit more noise than a 12mp CMOS.

thank you for your inputs.

Maybe soon there will be an ultimate camera with no less features. A bit greed but no one can have it all in one piece. Thank You

they have been trying to build the ultimate camera for 100 years

I asked the same question about a week or so ago and after numerous replies and reading everything I could about both tonight I became the new proud pappa of a Sony A700. Can't wait for the battery to charge up. While I was at it I just had to have the vertical grip for it as well.
