Hi,

When viewing the movie clips I shot with the S30, I noticed there is some high-pitched background noice like the motor running or something. I am curious to know other people's S30 movie clips have the same background noise or it is just my unique problem.
Now that these noises are existing, how do I get rid of them when editing?
Thanks for any response.

Linda-

I believe that the audio and video are on a single track. You probably can't get rid of the sound in editing. Except for making them silent movies.

good luck, doubleG

My S30 records no noticeable noise in the audio track. Are you sure the noise is being recorded by your camera and is not being generated by your speakers, sound card, or TV?

High-pitched motor-whine is common with palmcorders when using the built-in microphone (close to the spinning recording head and tape transport). There are a variety of pro-sumer grade video editing programs (Adobe Premier, Ulead MediaStudio Pro, Vegas Video, etc) that allow you to add filter effects to the audio portion of a movie clip. Unfortunately, these programs are expensive and fairly complex. There are also some free programs like VirtualDUB and TMPEGenc (The MPEG Encoder) that can alter video file formats. However, I'm doubtful that a free utility would give you the ability to filter out a specific harmonic.

Hi Nancy,

Thank you for your suggestions. It might be my unique problem. However, I once had the chance to try the S300, I also found the same problem. I am beginning to suspect it is my the fault on my speakers' part. Thanks for all the responses.
