Hi

I think I’ve been looking long enough to give up.

Help I need a backpack can someone please suggest one.

It needs to hold a D300 and 18-200 and a 80-400 and a couple of smaller lens.

And a light/small tripod

A pack lunch two water bottles or a flask

Waterproofs now this seams to be the problem its all ok then they are dry, But wet I want to stuff them where they come from and not get the camera stuff wet. At present I use a normal backpack and put my waterproofs in a bag and my camera stuff in a bag as well.

And a fleece or sweatshirt.

And be ok to take on a plane

I hope this is enough information.

Go with what all walkers have done for years?

Get one with the bungee bit, to strap wet gear on the outside? With my Lowe Pros I use the side compression straps as well.

Whatever suits/works, for you, really?

Otherwise, use a good old plastic bag.

Read the description very carefully. It does meet most if not all of your requirements, however, it requires the purchase of a few other cases/bags to safely hold you camera equipment.

That said the Kinesis system has to be one of the most complete and versatile systems out there. I have two belts along with several pouches and bags and I live it all. Everything connected to everything so it's easy to make an ala cart type belt or shoulder bag with only the equipment needed.

The backpack, which I don't yet have, seems large enough to hold you gear and a days worth of personals including food and water balder plus it has plenty of place on the exterior to connect additional pouches.

I have, and like, a Lowepro MiniTrekkerAW.

There's provision for a small to medium tripod on the outside, a smaller, outer rear pocket which can hold a sweatshirt and a light coated nylon rain slicker, BUT, I don't know whether if the slicker was put back soaking that no water would get through to the photo gear in the main compartment, and I have never tried it; once it's been wet I've kept it on until I got back to my car or until it dried. I don't think attaching much to the outside would work well as in heavy rain one wants to deploy the extra (very waterproof) rain cover; that's what makes that series "AW" (all weather). Once that's deployed there'd be no really convenient access to stuff strapped to the outside of the pack, and I haven't tried it, but I don't know if the AW cover would fit over much extra gear on the outside of the pack. Nor can I imagine a way to attach gear over the AW cover when deployed.

Both Lowepro and Tamrac (I've used their stuff, too) have websites and I'd guess would answer questions, so why not pose the parameters to them and see what they'd recommend from their lines? In a Tamrac, one of the larger Adventure series my work as they are designed with a whole top section for personal gear and a lower "camera bag" section. I don't know, though, how well sealed the two compartments are from each other.

M-Rock makes one larger backpack, but it was too large for me to consider, so I'm not sure of it's features, but I've been happy with M-Rock's quality, weather resistance, and features. I know that their shoulder-style bags, which I have in different sizes, are very weather resistant and come with even more protective covers, which stow inside the bags when not in use.

I hope some of the above is helpful.

Judging by the OP's equipment list he is looking for a pack for more than a couple of hours stroll from the carpark, and it will need a volume of 40 litres to fit all that gear. I have never seen a bag in that size range with two compartments (like a 70 litre pack often has) that you could use to put wet and dry gear in, and I have never seen one with a "camera" compartment big enough for an SLR.

Millet make a bag called Prolight Tour 38 + 7 which would be worth a look. It is designed for cross-country skiing, with that 7 litre extra compartment for ski bits; being Millet it is excellent quality and designed well. Personally, I just use Sea to Summit waterproof bags for the camera gear.

Exactly why I suggested the Kgear pack. Like the Millet, it's built for the kind of support you need for serious hiking. Padded shoulder harness and belt along with rigid aluminum spars inside the pack itself similar to a frame pack.

In either case, millet or kgear, this is the type of pack I believe the OP is looking for. Something More suited for long hikes and over night trips.

Hi

Thank you all for your help I think I will go for the Lowepro Rover AW2.

The things that helped price £71 the amount of stuff I can carry. And you can wear it all day.

But I've just found out about the Lowepro Orion AW which looks like two packs in one. But I dont know whats it like to wear all day.

Again thank you all for your help.
