microSD to xD adapter

Olympus has now something like this with newest cameras. Do you think it will work with Fuji cameras too? MicroSD are much cheaper then SD, they come with larger capacity, they are faster, and I could use them in my other gear with microSD to SD adapter. I'm thinking of getting f20, but I don't like the idea of horrible xD cards...

I searched high and low for somehting like this about 6 months ago. I believe it still doesn't exist

If you look at package content of 850sw and other new olympus cameras there is MASD1 listed - that's the converter. I've got it with mine. I got email confirmation from Oly, that it's tested with toshiba microSD up to 4gb and sandisk up to 6gb. On the other hand I don't see it in normal sale - only as an addition to Olympus cameras.

I've also searched EVERYWHERE for this adapter. I think right now it only comes with certain OLY (and maybe soon fuji) products.

However, I'm sure it's only a matter of time before this adapter is sold separately. It would be a very worthwhile purchase for a camera that has only XD output (like the OLY 560 or 570)

The Olympus website states:

Most Olympus cameras are compatible with xD-Picture cards (not included). A few also accept microSD cards (not included) which are compatible with various consumer electronics products when using the microSD adapter (MASD-1).

• Compatible camera models with MASD-1 ( as of April, 2008 )

• The microSD / microSDHC card can be used only with the cameras compatible with MASD-1. The MASD-1 is different from the xD-Picture card in form. Forcing it into an incompatible camera or any other equipment, it may damage camera or card or cause malfunction with the equipment. The images on the memory card may be destroyed.

My interpretation of this is that Olympus has designed a dual slot which accepts the traditional xD plus the MASD-1 adaptor. It would appear that the MASD-1 does not adapt a microSD to xD.
