A300 or A350 as a webcam?

I don't think so. A webcam is a very low resolution camera. The alpha's are High resolution. The Camera is not using its photosensor for LiveView, but a dedicated sensor. I expect it to be possible to control the camera from your PC but I do not think there will be a webcam mode on it....

The use of LiveView is limmited, but when using it with PC control it is fine I think...

I said it already somewhere else:

it depends on the quality of the live view sensor, but I guess it is at least VGA.

If you can channel the signal to the display, I should be no problem to send it to an external display as well...

Adding a data bus in the other direction to control the shutter shoudl also be simple...

Furthermore it would be possible to implement a video recording feature with this.

However the quality would not be better than P&S, just with exchangable lenses...

I guess Sony is not offering this (yet) to avoid canabalizing other sectors ( camcorders, cybershots etc)

Since both got Live-View now, I wonder if either camera can be used
as a webcam so you can control it remotely etc....

I read a rumour that if you try to use it as a webcam, it sends out an encoded signal over the internet, including GPS coordinates, and Sony employees in dark glasses and suits come and forcibly "exchange" your camera for a Cybershot. ;-)

OH...you just mean for remote control...dunno...might be useful for some. The 7D even had a remote storage capability for sending the photos directly to a computer AFTER it was taken, so it seems quite feasible.
