I don't know what is more amazing, that this creature has nested on my cousins FRONT PORCH (2 feet from their front door) in a wreath or that I got such a beautiful shot of it with my S40 today. I was leary of disturbing her but apparently she doesn't move since she is sitting on eggs right now.

Happy Easter!!

Cute little birdie! Hope you don't mind I fool around with the levels and stuffs... I think I should put it in retouching forum, but what the hell...

Oh, Tony, I don't mind at all!! I love all the help/advice I can get. I have PhotoShop Elements, but don't know too much about what I am doing.

Will you tell me what you did? Looks great!
Thanks!!

Good touching up. The original was a far cry from what I'd call a great picture--sorry but that's the truth.

Tony, great work. I too am learning about touching up photos from my G2. For now I just tweak the levels.

Here are the steps:

1. Open Image (duh :))
2. Image-Adjust-Level or (Ctrl-L)
  • Put the black arrow on the left end of the slopes @ 7
  • Put the hollow arrow on the right side of slope @ 200
3. Image-Adjust-Contrast
  • Added 5 to Contrast
4. Edge-Sharpen 8-bit Action by Fred Miranda, but since you can't run actions on PSE, just do a little Unsharpmask (Filter-Sharpen-Unsharp Mask), 100%, 1.0, 0 is a good setting to start with... play with it, you will love it...
5. Resize (duh..)
6. Save-As JPEG, Quality 8 (my usually setting for web use)

Have fun retouching... it can be addicting.. :D

I really don't know what to say, other than I've only had the camera for about 45 days, I never so much as had a good point and shoot prior to this. While the picture might not have been vivid and vibrant it was very authentic. I didn't mean that it would win any awards, I just thought it was well focused and interesting.

Maybe a suggestion or two from you on what I could've done differently?
