Many users complain about 4880 clogging.
I have an offer on a Z3100 promo only 800 € more than the 4880.
Very tempted.
Any advice ?

On forums like Luminous Landscape, on Leica Forum and on individual websites. Majority is more about the 4800, but also with the 4880. So I wonder… I don't want to waste ime, ink and money in this.

You're perfectly right, Eric.
My needs :
  • a printer also for large formats, mostly B/W
  • a printer with a very friendly interface (seems to be the case with Z3100)
  • a printer that won't waste inks in switches, cleanings, pre-heating, etc. (as seems to be the case with Epsons)
  • a printer that will print 100 prints in a week, then nothing for 2 weeks, then another 150 for a week (Epson seem prone to clogging when under-used)
  • a printer not too noisy (Z3100 is 10 Db less than 4880)
  • a printer that drinks less ink to print (seems that Z3100 needs 10 to 20% less ink)
All these I heard from pro users.
What do you think ?

PS : Plus a 30% rebate here in France this month on Z3100. ;-)

There will be lemons for ever. Even when you buy a mercedes, lexus, porsche or what so ever.

Well, now, I have an offer for the Z3100 at 3200 $.
It seems also HP is better than 4880 for true blacks.
