Hi All

I have a mac pro with a 250gb hard drive as the startup disk and 2x 750gb drives which I keep and backup my photos on.

I only have about 30gb used up on the 250gb startup disk and yet photoshop is now telling me that my startup disk is nearly full and that it cannot perform any photoshop actions...

This is very strange as the computer is only 2 weeks old and I have tripple checked and have 200gb free on the start up disk?

Has anyone experienced this or know what the problem is? If anyone could help with this it would be much appreciated!

Thanks and a Happy New Year to everyone

hi!! just had the same problem - are you syncing to iDisk????

I found that for some reason Leopard churns out reiterations that eat up the desk space.

You can download a great utility called "Whatsize?" and check the space usage on your HD to identify the source of the gobbled-up gigs.

Then delete.

good luck, bruja....

great thanks - i will give it a go...would this not show up as used space on the harddrive though?

It doesn't matter about iDisk = , there are many sources of disk fill....retained disk image files and others, for example. Use the utility and you can track down the source of the extra disk usage, then make a decision as to what to delete.

Is it telling you this when you do particular operations, like resizing images? If so, you might check to make sure you haven't slipped a decimal point when entering dimensions or pixel resolutions.

Reason I ask: I had this same problem over the years. I kept being perplexed that I could have 100+ GB free and yet PS was telling me it couldn't do things. Dumb me: somehow I'd accidentally tabbed into the resolution box without noticing and had entered pic dimension values instead of res values. Result: PS was trying to create ungodly large files and its scratch file would have been too large to fit on my scratch disk. Entering the correct values always fixed the problem.
