D3 Owners - Check Your Clock Battery Icon

Hello Guy,

I agree - 2500mAH from 1900mAH is not an insignificant increase in capacity. Tony said he was going to examine it in a little more detail when he found the time. But I just know that my own D2X battery seems to go on forever and would have expected at least the same from the D3.

I think the 3" LCD in the D3/D300 is of higher specification (as regards lower current drain) than the existing D2X version. But with LiveView and other extra menu intensive settings I guess maybe as a new camera then a lot of reliance is placed initially upon use of the LCD screen. (And probably a lot more chimping too) So maybe it is early days to assess how the older ENEL4 holds up.

I have a Jessops make ENEL4 (which is rated at 2500mAH) as well as two Nikon 1900mAH versions. Mind you - I also have two Quantum batteries (a 2 X 2 and a Turbo Z) I think I might also price the Quantum battery lead for the D2x/D3 rather than forking out on another ENEL3A as a backup. (If Quantum do such a thing that is)

Hi Jeff,

Thanks for that snippet of information which I didn't know about !!

Why on earth did Nikon do that ?? I had no idea the D3 and D2X battery covers were any different - seems a strange thing to do ? They kept almost everything else as 'backwardly compatible' - from the 10 pin connector to the external DC connector - so why change the battery cover ?

Hi. I have had the same problem with my D2X. Tried changing several batteries and finally sent it to Nikon who had to change a circuit board. Hope all goes well with your problem.

Dpreview at its most useful. Same experience here (changed time zone on an accurate clock on a new D3) but "clock" was blinking at me. Actually set the clock and it went away.

(Bumping the thread since it has probably happened to many others since December).
