Anyone out there using a D30 tether with USB capture on a Mac Titanium laptop? In Raw capture. Need aprox. time in transfer to laptop.

Curious as how fast the new D60 will capture and transfer through USB on a laptop.

Thanks

so it's close top your spec.

USB transfer of a full 1GB over USB is limited by the USB access to the MD, and it takes a fair while.

I'll time a full download following todays digital day out here in the UK and post figures.

However, I'd always do it this way, in stead of removing the 1GB MD from the D30.

That, as I've said many times, is like playing Russian roulette.

If it's going to die, it's going to die as you plug/un-plug the MD into a reader!

I know, it happened to me :(

Chris.

I have a TiBook (667) but unfortunately don't have a D30 to measure this for you. I have ordered a D60 and like everyone else am giddy as a goat about getting it.

Why bother with USB at all when you have built in FireWire on the Titanium. I am considering getting one of those Lexar Firewire Card readers as they look very compact and they are many times faster that USB or even your PC Card Port.

However, I can imagine times when I'm travelling that I might want to just use USB to the camera. However, unless you only wanted to download a few images here and there that might require bringing the charger and DC Coupler for large downloads.

I think FireWire is the best option given that you have such great FireWire support in your Titanium. I just wish someone would bring out an ultra compact FireWire reader similar to that little Zio USB adapter.

Kind Regards,

Tony

Your MD died while plugging into a reader? eek!! Scary thought. I use an ADS Pyro reader and have had no problems yet with two MD's I bought in October 2000.

1gig over USB stinks. I wish the d60 used firewire. oh well.

Methinks he is talking about "remote capture" where you take the picture from the screen of the computer with the camera connected. I believe this is a new feature with the D60. I'm looking forward to this feature. It's a different way of working, so we'll see.
