Crack thread serial number trend

I love the camera, Cannon should fix the problem. I think the
cracks will only get bigger as time and weather conditions changes.
How we stop plastic cracks is by drilling a hole at the end of the crack slightly larger than the crack for the reason a crack always turns into a split as it's not finished cracking until it reaches the otherside or in this instance the same side as the plastic is thicker towards the middle so it turns back (rocket science 101) same with a windshield it won't stop cracking until it reaches one edge or another...the poor man always pays twice in this case canon being the poor man, they cheaped out on the casing in the first place & now will have to pay to have them repaired.

It's a pretty small statistical sample so far but the people with
all numbers in the serial number are experiencing the cracks.
I'd be interested to know if the cameras that were purchased from etailers had the cracks. Mine has almost imperceptible cracks, and I bought it in a real store.--g2 owner

hairline crack from front to back on left side at the top of the eyelet. Was living with the hot pixel but enough is enough. serial starts 183

maybe it's based on where it's from . on the Canon site they say the number is on the camera. my numbers on the box don't look like serial numbers. interesting :-)

I took pictures today too and loved them. I'm keeping the camera and I'll deal with the problem if and when it comes up.

I havent been keeping up on all this stuff about the cracks and was wondering if you can bring me up to date.
Where should I be looking for a crack. My G-2 's serial number starts with 1A.

My G2 has Serial No 1B+++++ and has cracks. For the newcomers to this thread, look at the MF button end, follow the moldline above to the grey/silver plastic backcover, thats were most of the cracks and holes are.Has anybody out there managed to talk to a real life person at Canon about this manufacturing problem? Looks like mine has a hairline crack too. I guess I should keep a ear to the ground for a possible fix from Canon.

I have a hairline crack in the location that everyone else is referencing (in the back - dark slate/grey/silver - housing/molding right next to the joining line of the "top middle" housing with the LCD, etc. and the "side middle" housing above the manual focus button).

Mine is not smooth - I have the joining line. I can't take a picture ;-)

Purchased about a month ago.

I've sent web-email to Canon USA tech support to add another report to the pile.

I LOVE my G2. I hope it lasts a long, long time. Hopefully Canon will address the issue, before mine (and other's problems) grow to be like that of the pictures posted...
