I am sure this has been asked many times. I am new to the digital camera arena. I am looking for a good camera to replace my Minolta SLR (no digital). I have been looking at the Olympus 2500, the Minolta EX 1500 and some others. I just don't know where to begin and other models to look at. I want something that I can take a lot of quality pictures and then have the ones I like printed off on photo paper.

It is just hard to read all the reviews and know where to begin, so a couple good suggested would be appreciated. Like I said I would want this to replace my Film camera...

The Minolta RD-3000 might be worth a look especially if you happen to have Vectis lenses since it will take them.

It will depend on you, 3 questions for you first:

How much you want to spend? How much control you want (like a realy SLR?),
How large you want for print?

If you want the feeling of your SLR, prepare 5k for good digital SLRs from
Nikon, Minolta, in this way you can even keep using your precious lens.

Well if you prepare 1k (extra 300 for battery, charger, AC adapter, memory)
and still want the complex control, consider coolpix990 or C3030Z (or C3000
without burst mode to save 200). Casio 3000plus is also a good choice, the
same price with a 340M HD.

If you want portable, don't miss Canon S20.

They are all 3M for 8X10+ print. If you won't print that large, consider the
coolpix950 ($100 mail-in rebate will end in a few weeks, hurry!) or C2020Z
(with battery and charger as well as remote control).

Answer the 3 question first, then you will make the decision.
