Reasons for silver

While out in the Arizona sun, I have noticed that the silver portions of my old Sony DSC-H1 camera are somewhat cooler than the black portions. Before next summer I may put some reflecting tape on the black parts. When I get an FZ50, 60, or ??, I'll probably select a silver one for this reason.

LOL! Thanks, Marty!

I think the silver finish shows fingerprints a lot less that you get from just normal handling of the camera. I had a black Nikkormat EL long ago and it always looked nasty up close - you could see all the dust, fingerprints, etc. but on a silver camera, that stuff doesn't show.

I'm not crazy about silver ever and always, i.e. I hate silver cars, I'll never have another of those, and they are everywhere to boot. But for cameras, I prefer silver.

Did you ever wonder why all professional cameras are black? One main reason is to not have any chance of reflected light off a silver camera. I would never have a silver camera for that reason alone. The FZ-30/50 silver is really not silver it is a more silver/grey darker metallic look. Still, I will always buy black cameras.
