That is a great SB. I love mine. It is better quality than AB box. Amvona SB comes with everything you need including speedring. Just modify to fit your strobe with dremel or hack saw. It is easy. :)

I just purchased one of these

http://cgi.ebay.com/PHOTO-LIGHT-SILVER-STRIP-SOFT-BOX-SOFTBOX-KIT-DPN-56_W0QQitemZ200173402387QQihZ010QQcategoryZ79008QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

from Amvona and already have several strobes. The problem I'm having
is that my ring adapter for my lights (not Amvona) will not work with
Amvona's softbox. Do I need to buy a strobe from Amvona or is there
another option?
I use my ABs and AB speedring with my Amvona strip box - works great

Care to share how easy it was? I wouldn't classify myself as a tool guy, so need some guidance on what specific tool to use and what you did with the tool.

I used a common hacksaw to cut off the Amvona speed ring.

It took all of ten minutes

This particular mod fit my Alienbees perfectly.

Dasher thanks for the picture. How do you secure your lights to the softbox? Don't you have to manually tighten about four clamps around your strobe so the softbox doesn't wobble around? Or does your strobe light just fit snuggly within the modified ring?

I would just wait until your Amvona SB comes in before doing anything. the Speedring provided by Amvona has a few variation. You may need some adjustment to make it fit or you may not.

Just one warning, Amvona SB comes w/NO instruction or pictures. But then it does not take a rocket scientist to sort it out. :)

I didn't mention my lights are Alienbee's and the hole in the Amvona Speedring is the right size for the AB. But it was too deep, so I cut it off. The AB has 4 grips that expand from the inside of the speed ring, and hold it very securely. It sort of worked without cutting off the tail piece. But it relied on friction only, and I would not trust it in a shooting environment.
