I'm in the market for a Wide Angle lens for my 3 week honeymoon In Hawaii this coming December. As the wife has "given permission" for me bring along my camera kit, which is kind of her, I feel I should purchase a new lens to maximise all photographic opportunities. Well thats how I have managed to justify buying a new lens!!

I used to have a Sigma 10-20mm lens which I loved, but it was stolen along with the rest of my camera equipment and what with one thing and another I never got round to replacing it.

The stolen 400d (only 3 weeks old when it was taken!!) has now been replaced with a 40D, and I'm using an my old 28-135mm IS lens as a walkaround. I'm now looking for a decent WA lens for around the £300 (just over $600), I wouldn't mind another 10-20mm lens, however i'm open to suggestions.

What would you guys consider to be a good Wide Angle lens - example photos would be great as well.

Cheers

I think you have got the right idea, go for the Sigma 10-20 since you've already had experience with it. There is nothing to gain by going to any of the other UWA in my opinion. Whatever you do get, make sure you thorougly check it out before you leave.

Have fun,

jgb

Congrats on your wedding. Have a wonderful honeymoon in Hawaii.

I will be going Nov 17-Dec 2. I have a thread here http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1019&message=25273347 about wide lens selections if you care to read the post and replies it may answer some questions for you.

If I could afford the 10-20 I would get it for the trip. Just not an option at this point for me.
