Graphistudio - Leonardo

I have been a trialist for the Beta version of Graphistudio's Leonardo software. Graphistudio has two pricing options;
1 Self design of layout - cheaper
2 Graphistudio design - expensive

It would appear that even if you design the album yourself using Leonardo - saving Graphistudio all of the work, they still insist on charging the same as if they had designed the album themselves - what a scam! This has been confirmed to me by Graphistudio UK and I have also seen a US post as well. Graphistudio claimed that this was made clear to everyone when the software was dispatched - there is no reference anywhere on the paperwork/email I received. Interestingly Graphistudio has recently stopped the distribution of the software. The whole thing is a fiasco - it has been on trial since 2006, still has problems and now Graphi want to claw back some of their costs. I know there are alternatives out there YSI and even using Photoshop - All I can say is that I am so glad to be using Jorgensen for most of my work and beware of Graphistudio.

Just to add some balance to your post, we use GraphiStudio regularly and they do magnificent work at a reasonable price. They have expanded their sales to many new options, some of which are very competetively priced. You have obviously had a bad experience or maybe even a misunderstanding and are keen to slag them off here.

I have not used their package Leonardo because we ar too busy to do this work oursleves and they do a great job of it themselves at a reasonable price. So if you don't like it, don't use it. But think twice about what you say about another company and consider how you would feel if someone did this to your business. ie posting unbeknown to you on a well used forum without the request or offer to reply.

I understand the original poster's frustration

Most album companies charge an additional fee for design of the album--but there is no moral or ethical necessity to do this

Graphistudio, who I have found to be a really good company, is trying to encourage users to allow them to create the design of the wedding albums; let's face it, unless you are great at graphic design, they probably do a better job at album design than many of us

to do this, they have eliminated any cost difference between those who design themselves with their software and those who leave the design to them

while this is not the usual practice of most companies, it is not exactly a rip off either; I cannot believe that they actually hid the terms and policies of their software from you to scam you

Graphistudio, like the Australia albums, are good album companies who are trying to do their best to please their customers while at the same time to make a profit

My name is on the bottom of my post, the user name is just to have a unique posting name. I stand by my posting, and ask you, if you do most of the work for your supplier and they still charge you the same amount, not withstanding the long development of their programme - what's to be so Graphi positive about.

Your other issue - I was not slgging off Graphi it was potentially warn other users - perhaps not as busy as you - of the pitfalls of using the software and hidden charges.

Graphi last year simplified their pricing only to complicate it to the extreme with the introduction of Leonardo. Perhaps - if your not too busy - read and understand the post first before launching a pre-emptive strike.
