Best Mac Mouse?

I have had a Logitech MX Laser cordless rechargeable mouse for about 2 years. I have a G5 dual core system, running 10.4.10. I've never had a problem with the mouse. I am running Logitech Control Center 2.2.2. I really like that I can use the up/down buttons around the scroll wheel for a more leisurely scroll. And I have the side buttons set for zoom up/zoom down, and app changing. Very convenient. Only issue I have is that for some reason, in certain situations, which may be software and not the mouse, it loses the ability to scroll sideways. Also, it seems a little skittish in terms of tracking. I absolutely loved my Mighty Mouse when I first got it. The scroll wheel is really fantastic, until it begins to gather dirt and dust. Then it's pretty much over.

Anyone use a bluetooth mouse with the Mac besides Apples?

Only my opinion. It's worth what you paid for it. Your mileage may vary! ;-}

I have a FilthyMouse, ... er... MightyMouse that's barely usable. I've heard that there are issues with the Logitech, especialy with a MBP Intel Core 2 Duo running 10.4.10 but I've read such great reviews of it that I'm thinking of getting one and not using the included software till it's fixed... chas

I'm really sick and tired of my Mighty Mouse. It's really
uncomfortable to hold, my fingers slide off the shell when I try to
click and drag things, and the scroll ball on the top regularly stops
scrolling down.
I love my Mighty Mouse--in fact it is my favorite mouse of any I've every owned. Whenever the scroll ball begins to act flakey, it's probably time for a little cleaning. Just turn the mouse upside-down (preferably unplugged--unless you want to see some really weird mouse action :-) on a clean cloth and, with the scroll ball pressed against the cloth, roll it around in all different directions for a good five minutes or so.

Graphire3 wacom tablet with a wireless mouse and the pen is the best tool ever for retouching images, nothing is better that the graphic pen! Once you get used to it you will think why did I ride a bike for so long when I could have been riding a motorcycle! Your production time while decrease with a graphic pen. Go to wacom's web site and check them out.

I can second this opinion. I purchased an MX400 for my new iMac a couple of weeks ago and it's terrific. Incredibly precise and I have full fucntionality after downloading the Mac software from Logitech's website. No bugginess whatsoever.

The difference in tracking precision over my previous optical mouse, which was very good, is hard to put into words; it's that much better. Highly recommended.

And yes, the "Mighty" Mouse sucks big time.
I hate cordless mice for a desktop computer. I've used a handful,
including one of the nicer Logitech cordless mice (older Revolution
maybe) and I just can't stand the endless recharging or swapping of
batteries. IMO there's no point to it for a mouse that will always
be used on a desktop.

If that sounds like you I would highly recommend the Logitech MX 400:

It's only $40, a laser mouse, includes all the buttons I need and has
great ergonomics. You really can't beat it.

I've got a Razor Pro and I think it's great. I don't mind the cord so it's really about performance for me.

A camera is just a light tight box. Photographs are created mentally, they don't just
happen by accident.

I used a Wacom Graphire3 mouse/tablet for a long time and really liked it a lot except that, in the cases where you wanted to move the mouse just a tiny bit, it didn't seem to have very good resolution. I know the Wacom non-Graphire products have better resolution but they cost much more than I could ever justify. One cool thing about the Wacom mouse was that it was wireless yet didn't require any batteries.

The biggest issue I have with Mac mice is the tracking of native mouse driver is horrible. USB Overdrive fixes that. It costs $20, but at least I can use my mouse (a Razer Pro, by the way, which I love) without annoyance.

For the mouse, by vote is for the Razer Pro. But you might not like how sensitive it is. And you might not like that it doesn't have a ton of fancy buttons. But if you want a no nonsense, responsive and accurate mouse, this one will do the trick.

That Microsoft Bluetooth Notebook Mouse 5000 doesn't look bad. How long can you use it before recharging. And being labelled a "notebook" mouse, do that mean it's smaller than a fullsize one?

I much prefer trackballs over having to move a mouse around. I use a Logitech TrackMan Wheel. This is the model where you move the ball with your thumb. I've looked at the TrackMan Optical but I'm not sure how easily I can switch to using my thumb to push buttons and and my fingers to move the ball. However, I think I will give the TrackMan Optical a try when I get my new MBP in a couple of weeks.

I've never liked the shape and loooks of Apple mice and the one button only mentality.

Enjoy life,

I use the Logitech Marble Mouse which is actually a trackball.

http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/mice_pointers/trackballs/devices/156&cl=us,en

I like these

a) because it is symmetric so that I can use either hand

b) because I use a laptop while in the bed and a regular mouse is not too practical.

c) because they're cheap - less than $20 in most places

I have about 4 of these in various strategic locations.

I use both Macs and PCs.

I'll add another vote for the Logitech MX Revolution.

I'm using mine with USB Overdrive and it works great! I didn't want to risk it with Logitech's drivers (too many horro stories) and I've found that all of the buttons are configurable with USB Overdrive (both global and app-specific), in fact the only thing that seems to be missing is the ability to toggle the wheel's clutch. I don't really like the free-spin mode though, so I'm perfectly happy leaving it on click/ratchet mode all the time.

Logitech MX Revolution plus USB Overdrive - a perfect combination!
