Hi

I would like print out my pics taken with the S30 on 8x10 size prints.

1)Any suggestion on the resolution that is required?

2)Should I be using RAW or Superfine or Fine format?

thx--omegaforest

You should always shoot in the highest resoulution mode the camera is capable of, if you're interested in getting optimum image quality. Depending on the shot, you may not see much difference in "Fine" or "Superfine", but "Superfine" is always the best quality.

Shooting in RAW is always preferable to JPEG when you're wanting the best quality. You can adjust things like color, contrast, sharpening, and white balance, when you convert the image.

http://www.luminous-landscape.com/understanding_resolution.htm

is a good tutorial about setting resolution for printing. The general recomendation is to resize to 240 dpi at the desired print size. Use unsharp mask last.

for that print size I would use RAW or superfine. As for the merits or each try doing a search discussing RAW vs JPEG. I usually use RAW for flexibility in editing and slightly better quality.
