I like the shot. Guess what I'm drinking as I write.

A shame though, that you didn't have a portable iron with you - that dress needs some creases ironed out.

Guess I was in the army too long: starched and pressed! But I see your point - and agree.

Ah, my drink of choice. Always a double.

I'll have to think on this image awhile, Irakly.
But I'm sure that was your intention.

'Good photography is a controlled accident,
a vision of preparation and surrender materialized.'

wonderful expression on your model
the creases in her dress add to the notion that she is being awakened
another expresso & they may get ironed out
your French does need some work

if your caption was meant to say "awakening us since 1843" then I think this should have been "réveil de nous depuis 1843"
btw, I think you got an accent grave confused with aigu
that said, the font you chose is perfect for this
very fin de siècle

Masterful image. Great fun.

Lake Powell itself is surreal. For those who haven't seen it --it is this big blue "lake" stuck into the middle of a vast, stark, desert environment. (I personally hate the thing... would love to have seen the canyons below before they were flooded, destroyed, along the the cultural artifacts of our ancient inhabitants).

I hope the venue was good inspiration for your work. Your sense of humor, which always comes with something more, is great.

Thanks, B_ruce

See what I found interesting was what I thought was an outdoor theatre amid themountains and a very nice reflective floor. Very classy a nice place to see a show I thought. After a moment I saw the spot lighted feet but no shoes. It took some reasoning but I figure shes's actually standing in the lake and that's what makes it wierd.

Wrinkled dress? Is missing the point!

Irakly,

The woman in your Arizona Photograph, is she Vika from your Contax N Digital camera review from 2004 on the Luminous Landscape web site? Hard to tell from this distance but it looks like most of her facial features match, just can't tell for sure.

Anyway I was reading about the Contax N Digital when I came accross that review written in 2003 by a certain Irakly Shanidze. I remember reading your Leica M8 review sponsored by Lexar last year as well. I think you do a decently fine job. So thanks for these two reviews.

I may have learned something from reading the Contax N Digital SLR review. I'm very much a self taught photographer, so it is no suprise to me when I discover something that I should have known already. I have a question, you said in your review that it's better to expose for the highlight's with the Contax N Digital SLR. This makes sense to me now with any DSLR camera. But of course I have been prefering to underexpose to preserve the highlights and then adjust the EV with a software program to get a properly exposed image. But I sense I am creating noise when I do not have too.

Irakly would you be kind enough to give me this answer. I would consider it my one and only free photography lesson from you. I have nothing to offer except maybe a free Sitar or Violin lesson or a Painting or Sculpture lesson as a return favor. Maybe next year I'll have cash and enrole in your school. Heaven knows I need it, and so do I.
Thanks Peter -

Hanna Schigula's character in "Marriage of Maria Brown" said that the best place to learn a foreign language is a bed. Clearly, I need to meet a cute French instructor :)

Peter, Contax ND is very much different from most DSLRs. Actually, its RAW files really shine with Adobe Camera RAW and Lightroom. At the time RAW conversion software bundled with the camera was so bad that it rendered RAW mode virtually unusable. JPEGs were better shot with a slight underexposure, while RAW mode with proper conversion really benefited from about a +2/3EV.
Oh, and the girl is not Vika. Quite opposite, I should say. She is Dasha :)

Dasha, ok.

What about my exposure question in my previous post?
