Search is not working so I am starting a new thread.

I am looking at purchasing some lens adapters and was hoping to get some suggestions or ones to stay away from.

Price is a limiting factor, so I am not necessarily looking for the best lens, but the best value.

thanks!

Well, then, just for your information - the best are Minolta's originals:

1. ACT-100 - 1.5x teleconverter, takes focal length up to 300mm.
2. ACW-100 - 0.8x wide angle converter - brings focal length down to 22mm.
3. CL 49-200 close-up lens - about +5 diopter.

All three have 49mm threads and are top quality. I have the ACW-100 and CL 49-200.

For tele I got the Olympus TCON 17 1.7x teleconverter. It vignettes very slightly, needs a 49mm-55mm coupling ring, but OTOH is good quality, gives you 340mm, is less expensive than the ACT-100 and weighs much less.

Here's a link to the used dept. at B&H photo a very reputable dealer.

I just bought the Minolta ACW-100 wide angle converter for $39. brand new in the box. These are going used for $100+ on ebay so this is a VERY good deal. Also of interest on the page is the Minolta CL49-200 close-up lens (also brand new) for only $9.95 a superb value!

I can't speak for the Kenko KVC-200, but it's a 2x tele converter with 49mm thread for $95.

best, Barry

Wow! Grab them while you can. I bought both of these a year or so ago for about $100 a piece! Aargh!

They where nowhere to be had for a very long time. Where are all these new ones coming from?!

PAW - Week 45

this work had been inpired by Dave who presented his adapters in this:
http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1012&message=24531778
and following posts in the same thread,
and another version in a thread he had started:
http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1012&message=24586121

where I also had presented 'my' version of the adapter with some description and two sample fotos: http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1012&message=24604908

I will make more samples and post them, very likely tomorrow ( where I am at it already is night, during daytime I was busy and did not have time to take 'better' samples )

best greetings,
Andreas
