Sorry, but I think your "joke" was in poor taste, or at least unprofessional. There was no clue that this was a joke other than the day it was published. I'll have to be a little more cautious about your postings in the future in case there is some other day on the calander that makes it OK to trick people in the name of humor.

Hey, just joking! Actually I do LOVE your site and appreciate your work.

Certainly here in the UK nobody trusts ANY media on April 1st, tricks are played all over the place and certainly a lot more intricate than mine. If this isn't the tradition in the US then I apologise but I am a Brit and work in the UK, and so are What Digital Camera.

Actually, I didn't appreciate the joke either. But then some people just don't like practical jokes.

It does have a "War of the Worlds" atmosphere to it. Hopefully no one panicked over the whole thing.

I'm a Yank and I'm amused that the print publication folks were so gullible. I'm also a Journalism graduate and am dissapointed that these "reporters" didn't do anything to check the facts. Truth be known, I've not been highly impressed with most of the printed digital camera magazines. Some are only fair, others are downright bad. Fortunately, those I receive have been free. One in particular (which will go unnamed), seems to write glowing reviews of every camera they get, regardless of its shortcomings. Their "comparison photos" are a joke and a section where they print readers photos is extremely amature. There are plenty of non-professional digital photograhers who would love to have their work in print without having to resort to using a bunch of "snapshots."

DPR on the other hand gets extremely high marks from me and has a very distinct advantage for it's readers - that of allowing feedback. When Phil writes a review, he knows his knowledgeable readers will critique it. I think that promotes the excellence we find here.

As for the "joke", I hope the editors at "What Digital Camera" are still wiping the eggs off their faces.

Dear Sir,

I found your posting of last April the 1st very offensive
and rude. I would recommened that you abstain from such
tasteless methods in the future.

So Sorry Sir..

Yeah -- the joke was cool! Serves WDC right! hehehe... only bought 1 issue and that's it -- considered it below par compared to DPM and DPU.

Phil is correct. Virtually all media -printed, radio and TV programs etc. have a joke on April 1st.

If this were the U.S. Phil would sue WDC for plagiarism/breach of copyright.

I'm a Yank as well, and what disappoints me more is that they failed to source the reported rumor. Clearly, this was information that only could have originated from Phil's site. That is blatant plagiarism.

I'm amazed by the lack of sense of humour so many porsters show!
Not only here in Europe pulling readers' leg is what most media do
on this day: I am subscribed to a weekly aviation newsletter from the
US that every year publishes a 1st of april edition in which none of
the news is true. I enjoy it; and so seem to do most of the readers
(otherwise they wouldn't publish this year after year; would they??)
