Vista again

I can rip audio and video with xp and get bit-perfect data, no matter
what. even with BD and HDDVD (see 'anydvd' for one answer).
I just googled for anydvd, and it also runs on Vista. So I can do exactly the same in Vista. I even checked their forums, people say it is running fine on Vista.

(Probably they use one of the cracked AACS device-keys from WinDVD or PowerDVD to get HD content running. They will have to get a new key when this key is revoked, which they probably won't have much problems with)
xp was less evil since the 'lockdown' was less harsh and not fully to
the hardware level (signed drivers were NOT required).
Signed drivers are NOT required in Vista, too. So what is your point?

Vista 64 requires signed drivers out of the box, but even this can be easily deactivated (The same thing is true for XP 64, by the way)

The new patches make it harder to disable the signed driver requirement on Vista 64. You must enable the unsigned driver every time the computer is booted. I think this a very good thing. If the drivers are bogus no amount of antivirus utilities in the world are going to protect you.

they claim they do NOT use the same hack that was disclosed months ago. and I believe them - they have quite the talent in figuring out this stuff. I don't use BD or HDDVD (probably will never buy that stuff) but I do use their tool for dvd backups. mostly works great.

if they have it on vista, that's great progress. I guess if the community can hack its way into making vista 'kinder and gentler' then some of the rough edges might wear away and the product could be tamed again. but I consider it a hostile 'fight with the user' o/s. until its fully defanged (grin) I just won't run vista.

My thought is that since Macs can use Windows... will Apple make it so that their OSX can run on PCs? I don't think tha'll ever happen! I bet Apple will loose profits in doing so. Anyways, be happy in what you use and works for ya. Take care and say hi to the kids.
