I have a friend that is still a die hard film shooter that would like to get into

darkroom project. I'm really in the dark about this subject. Know that it would be possible to do some processing in a home dark room, but I'm
sure that color developing is out of the question in the home. All this said,
just to find if anyone has any dark room equipment they aren't using.
Thanks.

Charles:

Develping color film, slides or pictures is not hard at home. I did it for years in a one bedroom apartment in New York. I still have all the color equipment, have not used it in years.

It would not cost that much to get the equipment, depending on the size of prints you want.

As Mason said, color is not hard, just more picky.

I did color work over 20 years ago in a home darkroom. We kept the chemicals at temp. with a fish tank themorator. Temp and timing are criticle. B&W has some lattitude where color does not.

Also, any stray light in color is a killer and no darkroom light at all.

If I were your friend, I would have the film processed elsewhere, maybe even get contact sheets made, then process prints in the home darkroom.

Just a thought.

Charles, I have a great Omega enlarger with two lenses, Stainless steel developing tanks and a unique setup call a "Darkroom Johnny" which is an aluminum frame enlarger table and paper drawer and a sink which holds three paper developing trays all which fits over a standard bathtub and comes apart in 5 minutes. I used it for a year and it's been in storage and is in excellent condition. Email me if you are interested.
