Pentax 16-45 + Sigma 70-300 APO vs Tamron 18-250

Hello everyone,

I tested the DA 16-45 last weekend and although it's a great lens, I decided to return it. For some reason I thought the 2mm at the wide end would make more difference (vs 18mm). After reading all the praises regarding the Sigma 17-70, I decided to get it instead. I now find the longer reach and the speed much more appealing than the 1mm gain I'd get with the 16mm. The sigma seems to be a great walk around lens which would perfectly complete my 70-300.

So, here is what I finally settled on for my 6-month trip:
  • Sigma 17-70
  • Sigma 70-300 APO
  • Pentax SMC-A 50 1.4
Thank you all so much for the advice and suggestions!

Hello:

Looks like your lens selection should keep you more than happy for your trip...Maybe someday you can add a 10-17 FE to really get w--i--d--e...

Actually the more I work with another 17-70 I received the more I'm beginning to like it better than the 16-45 as well...
