I enjoyed the pics. I use a 17-40L and the 24-70L. This is what we come to expect when we shoot with the 5D. Excellent renderings of what our eye beholds.

I must ask, where is Old City? I'm not familiar with it. I am in S. California.

I would say that this one has the most clarity of expression:
The rest are interesting but aren't holding my attention as I'm struggling to "get" what you are intending to express here.... Perhaps if you were to share what you saw, interpreted and then what your expressive strategy or intent was to accomplish that expression. I'm thinking in terms of the image as an opportunity to "tell a story" about the place. Is looming, tall narrow streets a clear expression? It feels more like a sentence fragment rather than a paragraph. Perhaps what is challenging is to think through what it was that we experienced as photographers when there and then how to capture that experience into an image? To state the obvious, we viewers don't have the benefit of the experience of having being there, so what visual clues would best convey that experience in a powerful way?

I would tend to classify images something like this:

Snapshots (shutter was pressed without much thought).
Postcards (Interesting, even beautiful but maybe not compelling or inspiring)

Expressive images (art: Has a clarity of expression and powerful visual impact. Frequently evokes an emotional response).

Hope that helps!

Cheers,

Thanks for sharing that..(sorry for delay in reply..I was away..I just got back)
I would say postcards sytle shots of Old Montreal architecture..
There's only so much I was able to do with the combo I brought with me.

I really wanted to use the 16-35 only and catch architectual designs..I didn't want to get to close up style images..and thsi being VERY early in the day..there was not much movement around (as you can see) so it was strictly building images I was able to take and wanted to take..

This part of the city offers a variety of images when is crowded, there's many activities..but this was more me alone with the old city and my 16-35 wanted to catch the essence of it before the tourists came..

and yes as the other poster wrote..I didn't spot check the images..sensor is quite dirty...but hey what can you say..its the trade mark of the 5D ;)
