TZ3 macro

I love macro photography, so when I was deciding whether or not to buy the TZ3, I was a little concerned that the closest macro distance is 5cms. Having previoulsy owned cameras in the Ricoh Caplio R series, which focus as close as 1cm, I didn't think I would be satisfied with a camera that couldn't get that close.

I needn't have worried! Today I tried shots of some peonies using macro, and Tele Macro in macro and iISO modes. Out of the 40+ shots I took, only one was out of focus.

Linda, you got some very nice macros there. The mor you use the TZ3, the mor you will really come to appreciate all of the useful features Panny has put into this model.

Question for you though: Are you purposely removing the EXIF info from your photos or is one of your sw prog's doing that unbeknownst to you.

I've only had it for a couple of weeks or so and I'm still playing with all the modes and features, some of which I haven't tried as yet. The more I learn, the more this excellent camera delights me!

No, I'm not removing the EXIF. It's strange that it isn't here as it's showing in the Piscasa web album. I used -0.03 EV for most shots, though not the first one as that was taken indoors. They're all 100 ISO.

These are very beautiful. If you really like macros Bob Frank made an adapter out of an aersol can lid and an old filter that can hold a close up lens. I copied it and made my own for the TZ3. My gallery from London has a bunch of flower macros with a close up lens. I will go back and find the thread with pictures of the set up if you are interested.

Linda...are you by any chance using the "Safe for web" command in an Adobe product before you post your photos? That command is known for removing all EXIF info.

I had a look at your gallery. You've got some really beautiful photos there. I'm not sure about a close up lens. I wouldn't know what to get, where to get it from, or how much it might cost. Thanks for telling me about the adapter though.

No, I don't have an Adobe product. All I can think is that I did a small amount of PP using Picasa2 (sorry Eric!), then uploaded from there to Picasa web albums. Could that have removed the EXIF?

and tried to name them something that would allow easy (HA!) retrieval -
I can tell this is like having indoor lighting - SO much easier!

Ah, didn't know that. So instead of saving for web should you instead resize your image and save as a jpeg instead to keep the EXIF info? Also do you know why you do not see all the EXIF data within PS, but can see it via an external EXIF viewer? Some items are not viewable in PS.
