I have a couple questions about the Nikon SB600 flash:

1. Does the flash stand that comes with the flash attach to any tripod?

2. I have an extra tripod as well as an umbrella.. will I need something else in order to attach the umbrella to the flash?

Thanks! :)

It will attach to any tripod that comes with a 1/4 inch stud

something else in order to attach the umbrella to the flash?
Most of the lower end tripod (with head) combo do have the 1/4 inch stud is required. That screws in to the flash stand directly.

Speed is significant and interesting but accuracy is downright fascinating

That is what I use. Of course, don't forget you will need a way to
trigger the flash since the SB-600 doesn't have a built in PC
connection.
Thanks. I think that mount is what I need. Is there a mount that will fit on a regular camera tripod?

I have the Nikon D80. I read that the camera will trigger the SB-600 wirelessly.

There is no such thing as a "regular camera tripod" so it is difficult to answer your question. All tripods are different. With that mount that I linked to, you need a stud coming up from the tripod/lightstand to screw into. If your tripod/lightstand has no stud then you need to buy one that does, or get creative.

Yes, the D80 can wirelessly trigger the SB-600. There are, however, limitations, which is why I just spent $400 on pocket wizards. Enjoy!

Thanks. I understand.. what i meant about the mount is the one that I guess most people use to mount their camera to the tripod. The one that has a swivel that you lock instead of the one typical for softbox setups.. hope that make sense.

You should have a plastic stand that came with your flash. If you look on the bottom of the stand it has a threaded hole (1/4" -20) that will fit over the bolt on the camera mount on a tripod. It will also fit the stud on a lighting stand.

That's great. Thanks for the info.

I actually just purchased the flash. I have a spare stand and an umbrella and was trying to find out if I needed anything else..

I'm also going to try this: http://www.abetterbouncecard.com
Have you guys had any good/bad experience with that?

It worked great indoors. Outdoors in sunlight I had some problems. In the shade or after the sun was set it worked ok.

I needed it for outdoors while the sun was shining, so I had to go pick up some pocket wizards.
