New to this game

i've just bought myself a minolta dynax 404si slr camera and I'm just getting into photography for the first time after a long time of wanting to get into it. I need some tips on what film to use in general and also lens. I want to take some scenic pictures as I'm travelling to the philippines, singapore, malaysia and thailand for a couple of months. I need to know what film will give good colour and what lens would best suit these conditions. I have the standard 28-80 lens at the moment and it seems good but limited in some aspects. If anyone has any advice or where to get it please inform me. I have been asking around alot of places but no real answers.

concerning your lens, with my old minolta dynax 600si slr i used the 24-85mm lens.
i used it for over 90% of my pics.

Raul,

The Sigma 28-200 or 28-300 makes a good travel lens- you only need to cary one lens. The off the shelf Fuji Superia gives good results, without going to pro films. Try to keep to ISO 100 wherever possible.

For some good advice and tips have a look at http://www.photo.net . There are a lot of pro photographers on the site but they are quite helpfull if you post questions.

Don't think it is actually, Minolta has only this forum as opposed to other makes that have digital and slr seperate. The fact that it is 99% to do with digital does not exclude film camera topics.
