Just got this flash.....wondering if anyone else has got it and how it has turned out for them. All I could afford right now, wanted the sigma 500 super but needed it by this week and no one had it local. Bought it for $199.00 new in box

Its a fine flash suitable to serious work also.

I would suggest getting used to bounce, and maybe invest in a diffuser. (for a diffuser dont forget to switch to TTL metering)

Also the wireless mode is worth playing with. I have not tried the sigma..though it seems hit and miss from some user reports.

Barry, please explain. I did not know about this. I usually use flash in manual mode, how would TTL help with diffuser?

Any more 56 flash for this price??!??

KC,

ADI vs. TTL flash metering. ADI actually calculated the exact distance of the flash from the subject (using "D" lens, 8 electrical contacts NOT 5 on the lens). That is true ONLY if the FLASH is aimed directly at the subject and not bounced.

In this mode, the camera adjusts the amount of light, zoom, and expose to the correct brightness, distance, and shutter speed based on what the lens "sees" hence the additional electrical contacts.

If you change the flash to bounce mode and/or use the diffuser then the ADI calculations will be off. Therefore, you should set the camera to pre-flash TTL so the camera will force the flash to send out a TEST pre-signal moments before the shutter is release to measure the light and then take a 2nd shot with the new collected data.

Hope this answers your question.
