Thought I would post these links for anyone thinking of visiting London. I live only about 20 miles from London but this was the first time I visited for a very long time. I enjoyed myself so much that I went back a few weeks later. Any c.c or questions welcome, cheers, Kevin.

This links to my first trip and gives a short description of the root I took, its amazing what you can cover by foot. http://www.pbase.com/kph/london_in_a_day

Great photos! I only hope I can do half as well when I get there this fall.

As you are a local I'm curious what you'd sya we can expect weather and vegitation wise during the second week of October? Will leafs still be on the trees? Will any flowers still be in bloom? I understand rain and/or overcast weather is a strong possiibilty.

I had a thread going a few days back and got lots of great ideas on how my wife and I can spend the 6 days we will have in GB. My current thinking (if I don't rent a car) will be to base ourselves out of central London and do 2 or 3 day trips out to the countryside (if good weather). The other 3 or 4 days will be in central London. Your post makes it clear there will be lots of good photo ops! We plan to see the inside of a few museums, churches and castles. We might checkout a theatre production and naturally want to shop and have a pint or two in some local pubs to soak up the atmosphere. Is it okay to take pictures inside pubs or is that a no-no? What about inside castles and churches? I've heard some allow and some don't, any idea which ones allow non-flash photography?

Thanks again.

Haven't been back to London in over 15 years; thanks for the update. You certainly did great justice to a wonderful city.
Thanks,
Kurt

Im there in about 3 weeks for a day, and then for 4 days a week later. Ive got a work meeting in Slovenia for a week. From Australia this is a long way! Going to Venice and driving round Slovenia for a couple of days.

Cant wait for the photography

Lovely shots and gives me some ideas:) You sure covered some ground there.

BTW where do you live now. I see 20 miles out which is the same distance I lived-in Bourne End, Buckinghamshire.

Thanks very much for commenting, I am pleased you liked the pics.

With regards to the weather I think your best bet is to keep your fingers crossed. Expect anything from sunshine and blue sky to cloudy and pouring rain. Temperature anywhere between 5 and 15 degrees celcius. Trees depending on type should still be green although some may be showing Autumn colours.

You should be fine taking pics in pubs, museums and castles, some churches you may need to pay a charge.
Hope you have a great time and some nice weather, cheers, Kevin.

I did something similar once, but we started at Victoria Bus Station, and covered Buck House, St James's Park, Whitehall, Piccadilly, Soho, Covent Garden and more. Mostly on foot but with at least one hop on the Tube (I forget exactly).

Also did the same in Paris on another occasion. Great days, both of them.

if you read my post again..i said i heard london is cool

how is that arrogant or ignorant

i dont visit..its just my opinion based on historic facts

Hi Chris, looks like you should have some fun on your trip, hope you have some good weather In the U.K. I live in Byfleet, Surrey. Not too far from Bourne End, just a few miles down the Thames. Cheers, Kevin.

Not a tourist promotion, just some photos I took . Seems a bit odd your reasons for not visiting the U.K," your loss". You must have a job booking a holiday, or do you never leave your backyard? I'm sure most countries have history they are not proud of, but that is history not the present.
is the a tourist promostion or what.
i heard that london is cool.. but because of the colonial past i
dont visit the UK sorry
