Hi
If the magnifying eyepiece is made for Nikon,
how did you get it to fit on your XT/XTi?
Are they compatible/universal?
Are there any Canon magnifying eyepiece available?
Thanks
Canon seems to be lacking in the eyecup department. I didn't find a Canon magnifying eyepiece (or worthwhile extender). That's why I bought the Nikon.
The Nikon DK-21M works as is, no mods required. It is just
slightly wider than the Canon viewfinder flanges slots. This means that the DK-21M can be moved left/right about 1/8". This doesn't affect the view and it will not fall off. When it slides down on the flange, the fit is very snug.
The DK-21M has two coated glass optics. For cleaning, there are four small screws that allow for disassembly. Just remember the positioning of each optic and the plastic spacing.
The DK-21M rear rubber cup section is a Nikon DK-16 which could be replaced for $4.95 from B&H if needed. Much cheaper than replacing the entire assembly should the rubber get damaged.
Be careful while searching for
Nikon DK-21M . B&H has the correct photo. Many other sellers show a round style eyecup which is not a DK-21M.
I thought the price was high, but it is well made and works good... even on a Canon!

And it looks great together with my Nikon hotshoe cover and Tamron center-grip lens caps on my four Canon lenses! ;-)
