replacement eyecup

Hi
If the magnifying eyepiece is made for Nikon,
how did you get it to fit on your XT/XTi?
Are they compatible/universal?
Are there any Canon magnifying eyepiece available?
Thanks

If your going to get the Canon EP-EX15 eyepiece extender be aware that it in fact makes it look smaller not bigger as I thought it would.

It's rubbish

Canon seems to be lacking in the eyecup department. I didn't find a Canon magnifying eyepiece (or worthwhile extender). That's why I bought the Nikon.

The Nikon DK-21M works as is, no mods required. It is just slightly wider than the Canon viewfinder flanges slots. This means that the DK-21M can be moved left/right about 1/8". This doesn't affect the view and it will not fall off. When it slides down on the flange, the fit is very snug.

The DK-21M has two coated glass optics. For cleaning, there are four small screws that allow for disassembly. Just remember the positioning of each optic and the plastic spacing.

The DK-21M rear rubber cup section is a Nikon DK-16 which could be replaced for $4.95 from B&H if needed. Much cheaper than replacing the entire assembly should the rubber get damaged.

Be careful while searching for Nikon DK-21M . B&H has the correct photo. Many other sellers show a round style eyecup which is not a DK-21M.

I thought the price was high, but it is well made and works good... even on a Canon! :) And it looks great together with my Nikon hotshoe cover and Tamron center-grip lens caps on my four Canon lenses! ;-)

I've had to replace two eyecups on my rebel xt...the little plastic clips that hold it on break VERY easily.

maybe it's on backwards?

i lost mine once. just go to bhphotovideo.com and search for a rebel XT or XTi, then scroll down to "more accessories" and it should be listed. i think it's like $10 with shipping, or you could try a local camera store. if you weren't unhappy with your original one, i wouldn't go rush out to buy a replacement. everyone thinks you should get what they think is great, like a magnifier...i would have no use for that. i don't know why he's tell you to buy one even though you expressed no interest in anything other than a replacement for the standard eyecup.

i believe the product number is like EF EC10 or ... nevermind i completely forgot it...
