I have an aging S400, and over the past 3 weeks it has started behaving oddly. I think it might be failing (which is why I started looking at these forums - considering getting an S3 and maybe another small P&S for convenience), but I wanted to see if anyone else had had this problem, or if anyone has any ideas what might be causing it
About half the time when I use the camera now, the viewfinder looks something like this:
That's a grab from a video I was able to take with the camera showing the problem (it's actually sort of a cool abstract video!). Sometimes when the screen is like that, the images come out bad, sometimes they're fine, and sometimes the screen is fine but the images come out bad. I assume some part of the sensor is failing, but I have no idea. I've tried making sure the battery is charged, but haven't tried a new battery or a new CF card.
Here are a couple of examples of recent images:
Any ideas? Thanks!
