and my too soon post of discouragement.

Better light and better images. More time to practice. I'm beginning to finally like what I see.

The H9 is quite different for me than the H5. The color is more like my 828 was. Vivid is way too vivid and even normal is too much. I finally decided on natural because there is room to adjust.

Love the new menus, easy to operate manual settings. Extremely quiet motor compared to H5 (kinda got used to that like 'white noise'. Miss it.)

Spot focus seems much more difficult on the H9 for bird photography. But I shot center for years, only using spot when there were distractions.

Today I shot at 5 mp and was very pleased. I'll be doing some comparisons with the 8mp and 5mp.

The shot below taken at 80 ISO f/5.6 and 5 mp - very happy when viewed at 100% and it is cropped!

The shot below same settings but had the camera set for landing and is just a tad off focus.

This shot taken from my deck to the nest box - pretty far and cropped. I was very happy with the focus and the detail.(native lens)

The shot below is ISO 400, f/5.6 and I was quite happy with detail.

Here is another shot I liked from yesterday. Nothing special - just like it.

Just got the tele lens today. I will be SURE to give it a chance before I post!!!

Exif here if you need it.

Your photos and your way of seeing is just delightful, Barb. You must be very patient and prepared to get shots like these.

Bravo - Karen

Barb thxs,

very nice shots but the 400 iso one is showing the NR or whatever it causing is grainity wondering what would have happend when using F8.

80 iso should be clean but i think much people would have expected that the higher iso would be clean too shot it 5MP wondering what would have happen at 8MP i think its the tiny sensor relation.... we have seen this in many other brands as well.

cheers Marti

These are the best birding shots so far!

Glad things are working out.

Keep us posted!

And thanks for including your settings.

Did you use full manual?

thanks,
John

I found the settings… all manual. I noticed you used saturation at 1.

Well done!

Excellent photos. I am so jealous of your having bluebirds to photograph. Those are my favorites for sure--and you certainly do them justice!

Bravo!, very nice shots! I too was slightly skeptical with my H9 in the beginning. But now am thrilled with it, the more I learn the better it gets, just like the H1.

I was getting worried myself, but seems your getting the hang of it.
Nice shots.
Does it really grab the focus that much quicker than the H5?

The sharpness and the color is wonderful. I never could get those colors out of my H5, it reminds of the H1. Glad to see things are working out better. Can't wait to see what you do with the T-Con.
