I have an Olympus C2000-Z. Unfortunately it broke and carries a $216 bill to be fixed. It took good pics and I liked its features, but I’m thinking of upgrading as opposed to fixing it. I’m looking at the C2100-UZ and C700-UZ. But I’m not set on those two. Probably leaning towards the C700 due to cost. Any input on those or other models that might be good?

One other question I have is about the mega pixel of the camera. Are the 2.1s good for pretty much everything? I like taking nature pics and I have a few that I would like to get printed in a larger format. 10x13 etc…. Is that the only time that the MP will make a true difference in my pics?

I've got some pics I'd like to post but haven't found a site to host them yet.

The 2100's image stabilization is great for taking nature photos. I print 8 x 10s with no problem. Larger, I'm not sure. I still think it has the edge over the other 3000 series cameras because of IS and threaded lens for filters and teleconverters. The B-300 lens works very well with it. -- http://www.pbase.com/julivalley/galleries21oo , B-3oo3o4oJuli

I am bias but I agree with Juli's points on IS and for me 2.1 is fine, the cam takes great pics.

I will not go on, you will definitely get some more opinions here, give it time.--DomDP-NJC-2100UZPbase Supporter http://www.pbase.com/domdp 'Only those who risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go' --T.S. Eliot--

Thanks for the input. Yes. From what I've seen the C-700 is about $500 and the C-2100 is about $700. Both average prices I've seen.

Of course JMO, but.......

the c700 is an excellent cam but unless size is an issue i see no reason to purchase over the 2100.....and even then i dont believe the smaller size justifies its compromises, although the fixed lens on the c2100 does tend to get in the way......

personally i bought an uzi and like pretty much everyone else is thrilled with it(but when an e10 equivelant drops into my price range i expect my uzi to start collecting a lot of dust) but now that the e100 is available from reputable sources for under 550, no question i would opt for that instead, if nothing else would love to get my hands on a copy of GF.......

Ok this starts another question. Where are y'all getting these prices (and reputable sources)? And what kind of prices are these cameras bringing. I haven't look at the E100 very much, but under $550 for an E series sounds kinda good.

CompUSA and Walmart sell the 2100 for $499. CompUSA, Best Buy, and Fry's Electronics sell the 700 for $499. Sam's Club sells the 700 for $479. Fry's Electronics sells the E-100RS for about $477. These are all local store prices.

What about the 1.5 MP that the E-100RS has? Isn't that too small for larger pics?
