My son has a FujiPix 1400z and I have a Casio QV8000. When he took a photo of a hedge, some of the pictures showed the hedge as a pinkish colour while others were ok taken with the same settings. To check if his camera was at fault I tried the same thing with the Casio and had the same result.

Could this be because the hedge having no contrast, the auto focus and auto white balance could not work properly.
Many thanks in advance for any help received.

Hi Brian,
Did you change positions or did the light change and what color are your
bushes?--Lois

Hi Lois,

Thanks for reply. The positions were constant as were the light and the hedge was a green privet hedge. Although they were all taken on full auto I found that the good pictures were taken at about 1/250th of a second and the "pinkish" ones at 1/60th. All taken without flash and on a weak sunny morning. They were taken one after the other and I don't understand why the shutter speed should change and why some came out OK and others did not.

Hi,

Since my last posting I have found the reason for the red/blue tinge on some of my photos. I tried taking the same thing again and left switching the camera on until it was pointing at the hedge, it immediately showed pinkish in the lcd so I manually altered the white balance and it then became OK. I switched the camera off and then on again still pointing at the hedge and it showed pinkish again, without altering anything I pointed it further up the garden and it was normal, pointing it back at the hedge it was still OK so the answer seems to be not to focus on the one item it was pointing at when first switched on but move it around a bit before taking any shots to let the auto white baklance sort itself out.
Many thanks,
Brian
