on Amazon. To help pay for it, I'm unloading one E-500 and one E-1 and a few 14-54 lenses. Is anyone else here unloading existing Oly gear to help offset the cost? I'm wondering if eBay and Craigslist will soon be flooded with used Oly gear.

But I do have the luxury of sitting back and watching to see what people will manage to get for them. If I get half of what I paid for them I'll be happy...if I get less...so be it.

Buying second-hand bodies for next to nothing and picking up the new 14-54 and 50-200, or better yet, excellent second hand original models at great prices compared to the new models...sounds like a good way to get even more people into 4/3rd to me.

Yep, e510 body is available on amazon.com for $799.
e410 body goes for $499.

I might get a e410 to back my E1 till the new pro comes out, probably and mostly just for panos.
For portraits I think E1 still kick .

And I agree with Louis when he says price wont matters that much for pros (in context).

Still, if they get the P1 @ 12mp and the price to compete with the 5D I think we have a contender...

And definetely the P1 is worth considering for I do professionaly: panoramics and HDR for visual effects. The 5D is right now the main choice for that kind of work, the 1DsII being the top choice.
The Zuiko's is what makes things interesting...

Good move on their part. Not everybody needs another kit lens.

Don't think I can wait for the P-1, no idea when it will come out. So I'll try the E-510, then get the E-1 successor when it comes out. The 510 can do backup duties then.

Anyway, I'm excited to see the IS and Live View upgrades.

Anyone want an E-300? I guess I will ebay it!

I can't understand the price difference ! Is Amazon price a mistake ? I thought the difference was only $100 but now it shows $300 !

Now E-410 is looking like a better deal :-) Is the talk of same sensor in all bodies false? Or it's because there is no future of E-410 at it's retail price? Suddenly IS doesn't look that lucrative anymore ...

$499 body only! I suspect that the D40 was solidly in Oly's sights, or that Nikon will soon upgrade the D40 and they know about it. At any rate, what a smoking deal. I'm solid for the E-510 due to the image stabilization, but $300 is a pretty hefty price differential. Smart on Oly's part!

By the way, with the E-410 running $499 on Amazon, what do you suppose an E-500 will go for on eBay now? Ouch! :-(

I looked up the Oly 410 and 510 models on Amazon too, and I agree, the prices look great. Amazon lists Release dates as: 410-- june 10, and 510-- July 10. But I suspect these are just estimates or target dates?

Cheers. Craig

...I"d guess they have the wrong price listed for the E-410.

Why not order one and see if they honor the price?

If this was something I wanted, or thought I might want, I would defintly try to pre order this at that price!

I agree it is wrong, and will be fixed soon.

Better hurry and take a chance!

You weren't lying... Nikon just relased the D40x, which features a 10.1MP sensor and a $799 price point with a kit lens, $100 more then the two lens kit E-410. Honestly, I can't decide which to buy now. I really, really want image stabilization, but $300 could go toward a Leica stabilized lens for the smaller body.
