how was your day?

I use the R-4.... great camera to take on trips.....Here are a couple of shots....

Grapes before Harvest Festival in Paso Robles

Halter Ranch Vineyard in Paso Robles

Suspension Bridge in Redding (before Shata House Boat Trip)

House Boat on Shasta Lake

Shasta Lake Reflection

Napa Waterpolo Games (my husband plays)

ohhh, Brian, that last shot almost took my breath away longing for the warm water and sun on my face. Thank you so much. It was 60f today, and the snow of a week ago is almost gone except for the biggest piles. Time to wash the car!
Maybe I can actually get some outdoor pics.
Thanks again for posting these. I hope to someday get to see it in person.

great pictures, nice selection. I especially liked the Shasta lake reflections and the grape pictures. The grape picture captured the surface of the skins wonderfully.

A reunion weekend, my primary school age about 10-11 group organised a get together after a slight 54 year pause since last seeing many of each other. It was an odd situation as we were a group of 32 (I think) kids of theoretically higher IQ than usual pulled out of our suburban schools and sent miles away to a city school where we had to deal with the local kids who were children of definitely a very lower strata of society than we grew up with. We got beaten up a lot, and in return we managed to beat them up as well at times.

This bond of being alone together in a hostile environment seemed to make the group special and this reunion after so many years just felt so normal and comfortable.

R3 of course not suitable for filling hall shots, so my Olympus DSLR with big flash was used. And that proved insufficient in many cases. There are limits to what can be done at times with the usual consumer off the shelf equipment. Need better lenses, better flash, maybe studio flash to augment.

Now the job is to get everyone's photos and combine them on a CD to mail out to all, many of the class being scattered around the world now.

Thanks for letting me waffle on.

Regards............... Guy

I know what you mean about the flash when used in a big area. I tried to use the R4 with synch flash mode a few times on my trip and got varied results. If nobody moved in the scene it can be successful, but with a crowd this is usually not possible. I managed to get enough successes to bring home what I wanted though.

Thanks....I was standing on the shoreline.... we were there at the end of the season (Oct) and the water was way down... it's a beautiful lake... and we were lucking enough to see a lot of eagles, a bear and some otters....
