Greetings,

I own the Gretagmacbeth Eye One display. I am about to buy a new PC. Any known issues here with Vista? Suggestions?

Thanks.

Evidently the drivers haven't been certified yet, but they're in the channel so it shouldn't be too much longer. Due to that and some other color management issues it wouldn't hurt to hold on a little bit longer before upgrading if you need to maintain a color managed workflow upon switching over to the new machine.

Tom,

Thanks for the reply. I am guessing it would be cleaner to install a clean/new operating system, rather than upgrading one over another?

I haven't had the nerve to try a straight upgrade myself so I can't say for sure. A clean install would probably be on the safer side. Then again, after being burned a few times upgrading earlier Windows versions, I usually had good luck upgrading Win2K systems to XP so as long as you're sure your hardware is up to the task an upgrade should go smoothly enough. Just back up your important files first in case any problems do come up.

Good luck! :)

I have been using Vista Ultimate 32 bit version and Eye One Display 2 with no problems calibrating my monitor. I had emailed gretag macbeth before buying my new computer system and they confirmed no issues with the 32 bit version of Vista. There may be issues with the 64 bit version of Vista.

It's always best to install a from fresh. And to do this once in a while.. a year or two. If you are upgrading the existing computer, what you can do is save your calibrated profile and load it up with your new Vista install. It will buy you some time to the next time you need to recalibrate.
