IPOD

Most people have moved away from disk based CF cards. I made sense in earlier, but now solid state storage is nearly the same price. Also, solid stated devices have faster access and are more reliable.

But, you are not the first to have this idea. Back in 2002 or so people were buying iPOD minis and other MP3s players to rip the disk drives out for camera use.

Not a bad idea as a back up to faulty cards, but the transfer is very slow. I purchased the adapter for the same reason, I have 60 gig of available space on my Ipod...why not put it to use.

However, at 500k per sec, there are better options for me. If you are planning to transfer gigs of data, better off buying more/larger CF or other storage media. One advantage is that you can pass your Ipod aroud for others to view while you shoot additional shots

The adaptor is cheap, but using it is a real drag!!! Painfully slow and make sure you have plenty of juice in your ipod.
