On the drive home from work tonight I saw a nice dramatic sky taking shape so I made a quick detour to one of my favorite overlooks. I got there just in time to grab my S2 and a tripod and take this image. Unfortunatly I only had my 35-105 lens on which really wasn't enough reach for this image. This is cropped way down from the full frame and I'm afraid it just doesn't have enough data to even make a decent 8.5X11 print. I always regret not having bigger glass with me most of the time..this was one of those times.

Here is what the original frame looked like... this was take at 105mm..

nice sunset there.

Im outa luck, outa love
Gotta photograph, picture of
Passion killer, youre too much
Youre the only one I wanna touch
I see your face every time I dream
On every page, every magazine
So wild and free so far from me
Youre all I want, my fantasy

Not a word was spoken, the church bells all were broken . . .

Very nice.

Whe viewed at 100%, I believe that we can see little brown trucks filled with S5s driving down the mountain :)

We don't often get atmospheric conditions that will let us see that far...According to Google Earth I was exactly 78 miles (line of site) from Mt. Fuji when I took this. It's a big mountain, but it seems even larger because it basically starts at sea level and shoots up from there. With any luck, this summer I will be climbing it. I did a slight (5%) color bump in LAB mode, but other then that it was about that color.. This image is looking directly over Tokyo which is half way between me and the mountain. I think we can thank (or blame) all that pollution for that reddish sky..(yuck)

What was funny about this image was that I was patting myself on the back for having the foresight to head to this spot for the picture... I had to drive on a very narrow little road that I didn't think many people even knew about.. After I took this shot I packed my bag up and got back in the car... I headed down the road a little more and as soon as I turned the first corner what did I see? About 10 Tripods set up all manned by very eager and excited Japanese guys all shooting the same image... and might I add all with MUCH larger lenses then I had! (Sorry Gary, I didn't see any S5's.) I wish I would have gotten a picture of them.

Brgds,
Kerry

I always carry my F810 around with me just in case.

Nice photos! I've never seen anyone with bigger lenses than the Japanese ;^)
