Hi guys:
I am new around. Could anyone tell me what is:
"digicam IQ" or "IQ sensor"
IQ stands for Image Quality. In the context of sensors of digicams, it means the contribution the sensor and camera parts make to image quality, as opposed to the lens.
The difference between the lowest level of signal discernible from the noise floor, and the highest level of signal discernible from peak power. In photography, this means how deep a camera can see into the shadows while retaining detail in the highlights. So, if you take a picture of a sunlit street, a camera with low dynamic range (DR) will have more "burned-out" (pure white) highlights and "blocked" (uniform nearly black) shadows than a camera with high dynamic range.
Adobe Camera Raw. It's a program from Adobe used to convert RAW format pictures from a large variety of (higher-end) digital cameras.
Full-frame. This means a digital camera that has a sensor which is the same size as a frame of 35 mm film, that is, 24 by 36 mm. Currently the only ones on the market are the Canon EOS-5D and EOS-1Ds II.
Post-processing. Anything you do to a picture once it's out of the camera and on the computer, typically with Photoshop or similar tools.
In My Humble Opinion. Used to distinguish between statements of fact and statements of opinion. It's standard Internet jargon, commonly used in live chat and discussion groups like this. It's much overused, IMHO.
Fuji SLR Talk. A forum on DPReview.
By The Way. BTW, you'll find definitions for standard Internet jargon terms in the Jargon File [
http://catb.org/jargon/html/go01.html ], although for some reason BTW is omitted...
Circle of Confusion, also often abbreviated as COF. That's an optics term. Here it's most often used when discussing depth of field (DOF). You can look it up here: [
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Circle_of_confusion ].
Hope this helped,
Petteri
