There is a Readme or such file that is part of the profile download. You should follow that to the letter. The ICC profile itself must be copied to your Windows Color folder.

In addition to that here are two key steps:

PSE Print menu (or options) set print space to ColorLife

Set your printer driver options Mode: Custom - Advanced - No Color Adjustment AND Media Type set to Photo Quality Glossy Film.

Kevin,

I have the same printer as you do. I have great success with the following setup. Email me direct if you have further questions: [email protected]

Thang.

Printer settings:

1. I recommend you to do everything through your PC w/ Photoshop LE (came along w/ your camera) or Photoshop 6.0.

2. Download 2 ICC profiles for Epson Color Life paper (1440 and 2880). Go here: http://support.epson.com/hardware/printer/inkjet/pho785/index.html

3. Set these up in your PC. This is the most important and can be confusing part. Make sure that you have both of the above files in the Properties of your 780. Go to start (in Windows), setting, printer, 780, properties, color management tab. The box entitles "Color Profiles currently associated with this printer" should have something like "SP780SP785COLORLIFE2880DPI" and "1140"...Then, check on "automatic".

4. When you are in Photoshop and ready to print, this is what you should do

a. File, print, at this window, "print quality" should be high, "print as" should be RGB
b. Go into setup, properties, at the "main" tab,
c. Media type should be "photo quality glossy film"
d. Ink – “color”; mode – “custom”;

e. Click on "advance", check "photoenhance4", tone should be “hard” or “vivid” , effect should be “sharpness”, and set at "high". Print quality should be either “1440” or “2880”.

f. Click ok. Now you are back at the "main" tab. Click on print preview. Click on paper tab

g. In paper tab, just click on the paper size that you want, then click ok all the way through. In this screen, you can also set your own paper size under the “User Define” option.

h. Photoshop then will do the print preview for you. If you like what you see, then click print. If not, go back and adjust whatever you need to adjust. Play around with these settings and others to find out what you like best. You can also change the brightness and contrast of the picture through Photoshop and it will show up in your print as well. However, you need to change at least 10 "increments" before you can see the difference in the printout. Have fun.

I am sorry to tell you, but... the chice you picked in 4-e (of your checklist below) negate the use of the ColorLife ICC profile... That is, you are NOT useing the profile, at all.

John,

I have tried other settings in the past including the one that you recommended. For some reasons, I like the Photoenhance4 option much much more. There are at least 10 other users that I have recommended this setting to and they all like it as well. I guest it's just a matter of personal taste.

Bill,

I don't have this "EE153-1" file in the profile menu. What Photoshop version do you have? If you're using PS 6.0 here is some you may want to try as well. I tested it out over the weekend and also like it.

1. When you're ready to print, click on the print option.

2. go into setup

3. go into properties

4. Go into "main" tab, Media type should be "photo quality Glossy Film", Ink "color"; Check on print preview; Mode "custom"; click on advanced

5. under advanced, Color Management "photoenhance4"; Tone should be either "vivid" or "hard"; Effect "sharpness" and set to "high"; Print Quality "1440" for 4x6 or less and "2880" for 5x7 and greater.

6. Click ok

7. set the paper size you want

8. Click ok

9. back at the print window, Print Quality set to "High"

10. Source Space set to "Document: Untagged RGB"

11. Under Print Space, Profile, pick "Adobe RGB (1998)"

Give this a try. I like to result. Have fun.

Bill,

I don't have any other profile setup except those from ColorLife. However, you may want to give them a try to see how you like it. Please let me know how they turn out. Have fun. One note, I only use 2880 when I go beyond 5x7. Most of my prints are in 4x6. I use 1440 so I can save some ink.

Hmm... none of this corresponds to what I'm seeing. I'm using Photoshop LE 5.0

-Therre's no print preview button

-On the advanced page the closest thing to Color Management is Image Color Management, but there is no "photoenhance4", or Tone or Effect. Just "ICM Method" (host or printer) and "ICM Intent" (graphics, pictures, etc..)

So there doesn't appear to be any way to use this ColorLife profile I downloaded... and my photos are coming out too magenta!...

I created profile for the ColorLife Photo Paper using MonacoEZcolor for my

1270. The profile works very well. Monaco automatically stores the profile in Windows/System/Color if you use a PC. To use the the profile, simply go to Page Setup, select the correct paper size and Photo Quality Glossy Film. Turn off all automatic color management by clicking on Custom/Advanced settings and then No Color Management. Select the resolution that corresponds to your profile, in my case, it is 1440 dpi, Select the correct paper orientation. Leave Page Setup, and click on Print. When the window comes up, find your profile in the list and click on ColorLife Profile and OK. This procedure should get you a print with the ColorLife profile.--Dave McIntire
