I've been away from the Fuji site for a while, but I think it's huge news that the F40 will accept SD cards. Probably been hashed around already here, but I've kept thinking it's bound to happen. One uniform card for all digitals. Everyone said Fuji will never give up the xD, nor Sony the Memory Stick. But I see some light now.

I think it's inconvenient that Fuji and Olympus pushed the xD cards on their customers. But, with all considered, buying a 512 MB xD card would only cost like $40. But yeah, SD is better.

Since my other camera is an Oly, I was actually happy to find that the f30 used xD so I could still survive on one media type.

But I can't argue with your message - would be nice to have a universal option. One of the things I always ripped Sony for was their proprietary format. (but I've never been impressed with their photo quality either...)

Memory is cheap. It doesn't affect me.

I have SD cards, a Microdrive, CF cards and an xD card.

I would still choose my F30 over another cam rather than suffer from image quality that is not as good.

I have a DSLR that uses CF cards and use my SD, xD cards in them with an adapter.
