Any comments regarding this flash...
I would like to use it as a second flash and a slave ...

the one one down side that I read is the slow recycle time...
is this true???

thanx

I have one. It's a workhorse! You just can't beat it for the price. I'd buy one again and again.

Yes, when you're powering it off AA batteries the recycle time can be a little slow. It wouldn't be fast enough for, say, a quick-moving fashion shoot. If you want a faster recycle time look into getting an external battery to run it off of. But that'd run you about $150 + the cable to go along with it...more than the flash! Plus, you have to pack around the battery on your belt. I always just put some fresh batteries in whenever I use it for a portrait session. That way I know the recycle time will be tops.

It's quite powerful and does the job popping a little fill flash in at some pretty good distances.

What are you going to be using it for?

Thanx for the reply ...

I will be adding this flash to my make believe
world of fashion / portrait ...oh yes and glamour...
actually as my wife says ...."yeah sure"

I have some concerns about using the 285 with my 995 though,
I wonder how the camera and flash will accomodate the 995's
"squelching" of the flash cycle ... it probably won't if I understand
matters ...no TTL ...
this leads me wonder if I should have purchased a dedicated version ...
