Good evening all,

The printer I am using is a HP 970cxi. I have had this for about 8 years and was bought for general office work and not for photographic printing.

Most of my work through the printer is now now photographic and this piece of kit I feel is no up to the job.

Could you folks on the forum give me a good steer on good printers so as I can delve into the right areas before buying. I would add that an A4 maximum size would be OK because any printing size above that would be sent out.

When I purchase the printer I shall get some software to calibrate both printer and monitor.

Many thanks in anticipation of your replies.
Regards
Warren

You weren't real specific about your needs. I did buy the Epson r1800 and like it a lot. With that said I will still send out for prints I sell at local venues. The r1800 does a nice job on luster paper and I have printed a couple of cd's already, does a nice job there too.

Perhaps lurk the printer forum, Canon has a new pigment printer coming after the 1st of the year, if it were available now I probably would have gone that route. The r1800 is very nice especially now that there is a price drop. You really need to know if you'll print matte, fine art, glossy/luster how big, these will all be determining factors....I wanted a pigment printer and wanted to print mostly color and 13x19....

Thanks to Brent for dropping this thread, I received a lot of good ideas in my thread.

Best of luck,

Bill
