I am the proud owner of the CD300. However, I have not found an acceptable solution to the Wide-Angle and Telephoto Lens issue. The Titanium 2X Telephoto Lens is just not working out for me.

I found some Sony Lenses at http://www.video-direct.com that are supposed to be compatible with the CD300. I would like to find someone that has some experience or knows something about the Lenses mentioned below. Also, what is the difference in a Wide Conversion and a Wide-Angle Lens????

VCL-1452H: 1.4x
Telephoto Lens

Sony VCL-ES06A
0.6x Wide Conversion Lens

VCL-MHG07 High Grade
0.7x Wide Conversion Lens

VCL-0752H: 0.7x
Wide-angle Lens

Thank you,
Tara E.

This needs a 52mm lens right? You might want to see if you can get a B-300. I ordered one from Germany from Martin Achatzi [[email protected]]. It is a 55mm so you will need a step down ring. I do not mind going down but I am not a fan of going up. Most people on this site rave about the lens which was why I bought it. I still need time to play with it. One of the best reasons you would want to look at it is that it is a very light lens. With the fact you are using the VADS70 to mount the lens that would be a concern of mine.

I have had very good results with the Sony lens in the past. I have a VCL-MHGO7A. The only difference between the VCL-MHG07 and the VCL-MHG07A is the VCL-MHG07A has a 55mm to 58mm step up ring with it. Hence if you decide to get this lens get the VCL-MHG07A if it cost the same. Who knows what cameras you will get in the future. On my 707 this is not a bad lens I prefer the VCL-HG0758 though. The down side to the VCL-HG0758 is the weight. It probllay is twice the weight of the VCL-MHG07A.

If you have a camera store in your area take your camera and see if they will let you take a few test shots. Then go home and look at the on your computer to see how they came out.

I wish I had other lens or your camera to help more but this is about all the help I can give.

Thank you for your help!

I too have a CD300 and want to add a telephoto lens. I'm having a hard time finding one. Where did you find one? Can you tell me why you don't like the Titanium 2X?
Thanks,

Hello Tara E.

I also am a very happy owner of a CD300.
I wanted a 2x tele lens and I purchased mine from B& H photo.
http://www.bhphoto.com

The telephoto lens has this writing on it
Sony Tele Conversion Lens x2 VCL-R2052.

I am very happy with this tele lens, I have the VAD-S70 lens adapter on the camera and it just screws right on the end. The tele lens is a 52mm.

It is a rather large lens as it is a 52mm , but, I find it very comfortable to use, I just cup my left hand around the barrel and it feels good. In fact really better than without it on. I usually have my left hand cupped around the VAd for good support, so it seems natural that way.

I also have a wide angle lens also Sony - on it is written Sony VCL-ES06 x0.6. I would not recommend this one, I wish I had sent it back ( I purchased it from Sony). It is alright if you have no straight lines at the sides of your picture, if you do the building and poles are bent.

Hope this post is helpful,
Elise

Thank you very much!! I have been slowly looking around for a Telephoto lens, and I didn't know which one was really good, and I think this will be the one for me!

Tara I would like to ask one question. I have a Olympus C-2100, and I am looking for a telephoto lens. I almost odered a X2 VCL-R2052 from B & H Photo. I did some checking before I ordered and many people were not satisfied with the quality of the photos. Have you had any problems with this with your lens.

Thanks to all that answered. It has been very helpful. I still think that out of all the people out there that have the CD300, there would be more feedback on what the preferred Telephoto Lens and Wide-angle Lens for this camera would be.

Emetro, to answer your question, I cannot produce an infocus picture with the Titanium 2X. This is very disappointing, especially since it has been recommended in this forum. However, I have since found a thread in this forum that does not talk favorably about this lens.

Elise, thank you. I will certainly take a good look at the Sony Tele Conversion Lens x2 VCL-R2052 that you recommended. Do you have any pictures taken with that lens that I could see? Also, I think I will take a look at the B-300.

I still have not found a good lead on a wide angle lens. I greatly appreciate the warning on the Sony VCL-ES06 x0.6.

Ted, I have the Titanium 2X .

Some of the pictures I have taken with the CD300 are at Imagestation. None were taken with the Titanium 2X Lens.
