NEW D40 photos!!

The one thing that i can't get over is just how SHARP the pictures are. Unusual to see from a digital SLR.

But do you think its too sharp?

by the way, you should check the samples on http://www.dcresource.com . There are a couple shots taken raw at high iso that are simply amazing!

and they certainly aren't new. I saw those same photos several months ago on a site claiming to be from a D50 or D80 (I forget which). Whatever this is, it's not D40 photos, they just took the same old photos and claimed they were taken with the D40.

Most review site take photos of the same view with each new camera so the reader may compare like images. The EXIF data of the photos definitely show that they were taken with a D40 on November 21, 2006. So you did not see them several months ago.

exif data can be edited. And yes I did see this set of pictures a few months ago taken by a non-D40 camera. Unless they took pictures of the same ship and the same ferris wheel, something is definitely up here.

They take the same photos so users cam compare cameras... that is Yokohama bay with the ferris wheel.

these are D40 photos, that is a very reputable website.

David,

Thanks for the link to the D40 NEF image. It appears that my test software can handle this image. Will need to do some more testing to be sure.

... is like the latest mobile phone ... I wouldn't dream of presenting a wannabe, not too serious teen photographer with the "ancient-looking" D50, not when the D40 looks so new and hip with its huge and colorful LCD screen, and in-camera editing :-)

Ken Rockwell, imo, sums up the D40 nicely in his latest review ( http://kenrockwell.com/nikon/d40.htm ) - it's hard to ignore the fun factor of the D40, even his review reads like a fun trip with the latest toy.

That, I believe, is the D40's main attraction.

--Although I do have to disagree about the D50's images being better at ISO 1600. With all of the "pixel peeping" that I've done, there is no contest. The D40 has the best 6mp sensor to date (K100D included) concerning high ISO IQ.

Yes, that's ISO3200...
