I went to use my S602 for the latest Fujimugs challenge a couple of days ago, and had a problem which has suddenly appeared. When I move the mode selector dial, the camera started scrolling through the different modes, sometimes continually changing, sometimes stopping on one mode, usually the wrong mode as indicated by the dial. Nothing I could see has been damaged externally.

Has anybody experienced the same problem, and if so is it fixable? The S602 is a great camera, and is very flexible, so I would like to get it working again if possible.

Can anyone help? Mr Kirk?

I've been so busy the last few weeks, I rarely get a minute to visit here, so catching this .. on a 30 sec rest stop :-) .. just as you posted .. was a miracle !! Thats Service eh?

That DEFINITELY looks like the old loose ribbon fault. Well documented and an easy fix, only need to remove the rear section. Check the dis-assembly guides. There's a 0.5% chance its a faulty wheel, but that should be obvious just by feel ie applying pressure on it while keeping the cammie still. Let em know how you go.

Thanks for the 'very' prompt reply. jkirk :-) Nice to know that it may not be terminal.

I'm looking through your disassembly pictures. Are there any other sites with pics to follow that I can look at before attempting taking the S602 apart that anyone knows about?

When my S7K stopped working I used jkirk's 602 stuff to take it apart and had a look around. No troubles following it. Turned out the problem was a fried circuit board. The faulty component was the DCST PWB. Hopefully yours is just something loose and can be home remedied.
